spiritualinspiration:

When Jesus saw his friends in tears, he could no longer control himself. He was “deeply moved in spirit and troubled” (v. 33). And when he saw the grave of Lazarus, his eyes filled with tears: “Jesus wept.”

For many people, this does not make sense. As some of the onlookers said, “If he cares so much, why didn’t this wonderworker keep Lazarus from dying?” We too wonder how Jesus could be overcome with grief at his friend’s death. After all, he was in complete control of the situation. He knew the outcome from the beginning. He came to change mourning to dancing and replace sadness with songs. Yet his body heaved with sobs and he shed tears.

No other story in the Bible shows so fully the mystery of the person of Jesus. We see his humanity in his tears and his divinity in his power over death.

Today we should think of the tears. Our Savior is no stranger to our pain. He himself has been tested in the school of suffering that we all must attend. His sympathy, says Hebrews 4:15 and 5:17, is warm and real.

Some hurts in this life are too deep for words. But the sorrow of earth has touched the God of heaven. And we see the love of God in the tears of Jesus.

In honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, join us as we remember and honor the memory of the millions of people whose lives were cut short during the Holocaust. We remember the millions of children whose lives were stolen from them in ways so horrific that words cannot describe them. We remember the nameless. We remember the named. We remember our family - because every soul that perished during the Holocaust IS our family. The Jewish nation is one. We will never forget.

Boats sailed through the streets of a Serbian town on Friday on a mission to rescue people trapped by rising waters as the worst floods ever recorded swept Serbia and Bosnia.

Some residents of Obrenovac, 30 kilometres south-west of the capital Belgrade, were stranded on the roofs of their homes, calling for help. The heaviest rains since records began almost 120 years ago have hit Serbia and Bosnia this week. It is unknown how many people have drowned, or how many people are trapped with no way of getting help. These people are left with no homes, no personal belogings. There is no power, no drinking water. They are lacking food, medicine, clothes.. And even when this all blows over they will have nothing left, and no place to live, work.. They need your help.

What is worse, another wave of floods is yet to come, and it is extremely important that everybody who can helps these people! Even the smallest things are helpful, and something that means so little to you could mean the world to them.

shadowwraiths:

Please take some time away from your regular fandom blogging and reblog this photo of some of the 200+ schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram militants in Nigeria. This photo is a still from a video released today by the kidnappers. It is vital that people do not forget about them and keep demanding #bringbackourgirls

Boko Haram, like the Taliban militants who shot Malala Yousafzai, fear above all an educated, free thinking woman. This crisis will not go away until we address this issue.

P.S Do NOT use this post and others like this as an excuse to hate on Muslims or Islam or African nations. Only in our humanity will we find true peace.

Thankyou.
